Weaving
The Athena Tapestry is specifically fashioned with fine natural linen threads to mimic the essence of fibers used in the ancient world. The image of Athena is bleached into the woven structure to become part of the cloth as well as destroying it's fiber over time. The image is immortally placed within the woven fiber that she creates. The honeycomb weave is a simple open structure that simulates gauze lace and subtly narrates the story of Athena and Arachne gauze weavings and the essence of Ancient Greek textiles. This tapestry exemplifies language communicated through fiber, process, and practice.
